Our story doesn’t begin in an office, but in the fertile soils of Asia Minor. In 1922, following the Great Catastrophe, the Karepidis family arrived in Crete, carrying with them the only thing no one could take away: their deep knowledge and love for the land.
With meager resources but a wealth of tradition, they acquired their first olive groves and turned survival into creation. For our family, olive oil was never just a product; it was the sacred bond that connected us to our new homeland. Today, three generations later, that same passion flows into every bottle of Ploumi.

The Founding of the Karepidis Olive Mill
After a century of uninterrupted presence in the olive groves of Crete, the Karepidis family is taking a bold step into the future. Today, the fourth generation takes the lead, 'shielding' our ancestors' heritage with the power of science by establishing a state-of-the-art, vertically integrated olive mill in the heart of the island.
This is more than just a new facility; it is a space where tradition meets advanced cold-extraction technology. With a storage capacity of 350,000 liters across 13 cutting-edge tanks, we ensure that the dream of producing olive oil without compromise becomes a reality.
Our guarantee? Our 125 acres (500 stremma) of privately owned olive groves. We know every tree, every branch, and every olive that enters production. This absolute control over our raw material allows us to offer a product that starts from our hands and reaches your table, carrying the authentic essence of the Cretan land.

The Birth of Ploumi
A century after the family's arrival in Crete, the vision takes its final shape: PLOUMI is born. In the Cretan dialect, it means 'ornament' or 'embellishment'. For us, it represents the crowning achievement of generations of effort. Each bottle encapsulates the absolute quality of the Cretan olive grove and the guarantee of our estate's model olive mill. PLOUMI is not just an olive oil; it is the precious distillate of a 100-year history that now reaches your table.

The Vision of Standardization
From Field to Shelf
In 2023, the family took the next decisive step: the creation of a model bottling facility.
The Infrastructure: We developed a massive underground storage facility equipped with 11 new tanks, bringing our total capacity to 953 tons. Storing our oil in these controlled, underground conditions guarantees that its organoleptic characteristics remain unchanged.
Cutting-Edge Technology (2025): We installed the latest fully automated bottling machinery. Our goal? To ensure that every bottle of olive oil is 'sealed' with all the freshness, aroma, and vitamins it possessed the very moment it was produced at our mill.

Absolute Control: We are one of the few facilities with full vertical production. We manage everything: cultivation, harvesting, extraction, storage, and bottling. Our product never changes hands until it reaches yours. This is our ultimate guarantee of purity.
